Firewatch
The year is 1989.
You are a man named Henry. You used to have a wife and a life in the city, before things turned bad. But now you have retreated from all that to work as a fire lookout in the Wyoming wilderness. Your job is to watch for smoke and keep the wilderness safe. You live alone at the top of a fire tower.
Wyoming is having an especially hot, dry summer this year, and everyone is on edge. You’ve never met your supervisor, a woman named Delilah. But she’s available whenever you need her over a small, handheld radio—which is good, because she’s your sole contact with the world you left behind.
Then you notice something strange happening down below. You venture out of your lookout tower to investigate. As you explore this unknown world, it occurs to you that the choices you make could strengthen or destroy the only human relationship you have left.
Jake Rodkin and Sean Vanaman are the co-founders of Campo Santo, a small but scrappy game developer in San Francisco. Firewatch, their debut title, has sold more than 1.5 million copies. Campo Santo also publishes the Campo Santo Quarterly Review, a literary journal, and is co-producing a film adaptation of Firewatch as well as a second game, In the Valley of Gods, a single-player first-person adventure set in the Egyptian desert in the 1920s.
Before launching Campo Santo in September 2013, Rodkin and Vanaman were co-writers on The Walking Dead video game at Telltale Games, a now-defunct game developer in San Rafael, California. In April 2018, Campo Santo was acquired by Valve Corporation and relocated to Bellevue, Washington, a suburb of Seattle.
